Start Your Own ConversationTonight's prayer can be as small as one sentence, and God hears small prayers:
Lord, I AM here. I am hurting. Stay near.
You do not have to perform composed Faith for God to hear you. He is near to the brokenhearted — not near to the theologically articulate or the emotionally steady, but near to the brokenhearted. That is the promise you are standing on tonight.
Psalm 34:18
KJVTime may soften some edges, but Scripture gives you something sturdier than time: the nearness of God.
Look for three kinds of nearness:
God near to the brokenhearted. Psalm 34:18 does not say God is near to people who can explain their pain neatly. It says He is near to the brokenhearted.
Christ near as the Man of Sorrows. Isaiah 53:3 calls Him acquainted with grief. That means your sorrow is not foreign country to Jesus.
The Spirit near when prayer collapses. Romans 8:26 says the Spirit helps us in weakness when we do not know what to pray. That is not a second-class prayer life. That is God helping the speechless.
So when someone says, Time heals, you can quietly answer yourself: God is near now. Healing may take time, but I AM not abandoned while time passes.
