As of May 16, 2026, YouVersion's official Bible App materials describe Scripture reading, audio Bibles, reading plans, highlights, notes, bookmarks, prayer, friends/community, verse images, search, and sharing. The current App Store listing and YouVersion's own Bible App page do not present the consumer Bible App as having a built-in AI Bible chat or native AI study assistant.

YouVersion is doing adjacent technology work. Its March 31, 2026 Platform announcement says YouVersion Platform gives ministries and developers Bible reader technology, sign-in, sync, analytics, and access to many licensed Bible texts, and it also mentions a Gloo partnership plus an AI Hackathon for faith-tech innovation. That is meaningful, but it is not the same as native conversational AI inside the Bible App.

So the direct answer is: YouVersion is not primarily an AI Bible app today. It is a Bible reading and spiritual habit app. FaithGPT is the companion layer when you want AI-powered Scripture explanation, theological context, original-language help, prayer reflection, and guided follow-up questions around the passage you are already reading.

FaithGPT now includes an Open in Bible App action for supported translations. When you tap a verse in FaithGPT's Bible reader, the verse action panel can open the same passage on Bible.com, which uses YouVersion's Bible App experience and opens the mobile app on many devices when it is installed.

Current direct Bible App links are available for the FaithGPT translations that have confirmed YouVersion version mappings: KJV, ASV, and YLT. If a translation does not have a confirmed mapping, FaithGPT hides the action instead of guessing and sending you to the wrong version.
